Cedar Park is a city in Texas that has land in both Williamson County and Travis County. As of the 2013 census estimate, Cedar Park had a population just over 61,000, making it one of the premier suburbs of Austin, Texas. Boasting an impressive sports scene, Cedar Park is home to the Texas Stars (American Hockey League) and the Austin Spurs (NBA Development League). Most entertainment events, be they concerts or sporting matches, take place at the Cedar Park Center.
During the 19th century, Cedar Park was comprised mainly of members of the Tonkawa, Lipan Apache and Comanche Tribes. Over a century later, Cedar Park began to grow with the addition of employers such as Walmart, Super Target, HEB, Costco, Academy Sports and Outdoors and, as of 2007, the Cedar Park Regional Medical Center.
Educationally, Cedar Park is home Cedar Park High School and Vista Ridge High School, both members of the Leander Independent School District. Students in the southern and eastern neighborhoods of Cedar Park generally attend schools within the Round Rock Independent School District. Cedar Park is also home to the Cypress Creek campus of Austin Community College.
